| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Oliver "Ollie" Albert Schuh, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 31, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was born on January 29, 1924 in St. |
| 6 | | Louis, Missouri and grew up in Dogtown; his parents were Robert |
| 7 | | and May (nee Schottell) Schuh; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enlisted in the United States Army |
| 9 | | Air Corps in 1942; he served as an armorer for B-26 Marauders |
| 10 | | in the 397th Bomber Group of the 9th Army Air Corps in the |
| 11 | | European Theatre; he shared many stories through the years |
| 12 | | about his life in the Army and was a proud Marauder Man; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh retired from Union Electric in 1987 |
| 14 | | after 35 years of dedicated service; he was an active member of |
| 15 | | IBEW Union Local 1439 and served as shop steward and on the |
| 16 | | executive board for many years; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh and his wife were members of St. |
| 18 | | Catherine Laboure Parish in Cahokia before moving to |
| 19 | | Edwardsville and joining St. Boniface Parish; he was also a |
| 20 | | 67-year member of the St. Frances de Sales Benevolent Society; |
| 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enjoyed politics, gardening, |
| 2 | | forestry, reading, education, and spending time outdoors; he |
| 3 | | loved St. Louis and could often be found at Shaw's Gardens, |
| 4 | | Forest Park, the Art Museum, or Busch Stadium; he also enjoyed |
| 5 | | spending time at the Fairmont Horse track and traveling |
| 6 | | extensively with his wife throughout the United States and |
| 7 | | Canada, mostly by train; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was preceded in death by his wife of |
| 9 | | 66 years, Eleanor; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh is survived by 8 children, Janet |
| 11 | | (Greg) Corcoran, Bob (Mary Pearson) Schuh, Rick (Alice Carroll) |
| 12 | | Schuh, Tom (Lynda) Schuh, Mary Schuh, John (Celia Boyne-Schuh) |
| 13 | | Schuh, Bill (Anne) Schuh, and Jennifer (Mike) Hybl; 22 |
| 14 | | grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, |
| 15 | | Charles Schottel; therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Oliver "Ollie" Albert |
| 19 | | Schuh; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
