SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Darwin "Buz" Kershaw of Colona, who passed away on August 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw was born in Colona on May 12, 1932 to Clyde and Berniece A. Crouch Kershaw; he married Joanne Voorhis in Colona in 1951; he served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw was a life-long farmer; he, along with his mother and brother, Darrell, owned the Kershaw Mobile Home Park in Colona; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw married Barbara Bender in 1990 in Bradenton, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw was a long-time member of Green Rock Colona American Legion Post 1233; he enjoyed golf, bowling, and flying his plane in his earlier years; he enjoyed getting on his motorcycle and riding to his friend, Jim Mortier's to repair farm equipment; he also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, NASCAR, and times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joanne; his brother, Darrell Kershaw; and his sister, Donna Michels; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Kershaw is survived by his wife, Barb; his daughter, Brenda (Armando) Veloz; his sons, David (Grace) Kershaw, Dale (Jackie) Kershaw, and Duane (Diane) Kershaw; his stepsons, Bill (Mary Ann) Bender, John (Angel) Bender, and Tom (Brenda) Bender; his daughter, Becky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Meier; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Darwin "Buz" Kershaw, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darwin Kershaw as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
