| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Harlan E. Johannsen of Morrison, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 19, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was born on April 18, 1928 in |
| 6 | | Sabula, Iowa; his parents were Otto H. and Anna M. (nee |
| 7 | | Ingwersen) Johannsen; he married Wilma Medendorp on September |
| 8 | | 19, 1964 at Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen served in the United States Army |
| 10 | | during the Korean War; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was educated in Miles, Iowa grade |
| 12 | | schools and was a graduate of Miles High School; he began |
| 13 | | farming in the Miles, Iowa area; in 1956, he moved to Morrison, |
| 14 | | where he continued to farm; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Harlan Johannsen was a member of Emmanuel Reformed |
| 16 | | Church in Morrison and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau; he was |
| 17 | | a life member of over 60 continuous years of the Morrison |
| 18 | | American Legion Post #328, where he served as commander and as |
| 19 | | the Whiteside County Commander for the American Legion; while |
| 20 | | at the American Legion, he also served on the firing squad, |
| 21 | | marched in parades for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and |
