SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raymond "Ray" Joseph Szostak of Gurnee,
4who passed away on September 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was born on August 15, 1928 in
6North Chicago; his parents were Francis and Mary (nee Wrona)
7Szostak; he was a resident of North Chicago until he moved to
8Gurnee in 1985; he married Lillian (nee Dorband) on May 20,
91950 at the Holy Family Church in North Chicago; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak attended Holy Rosary School in
11North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1946;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak served in the United States Army
14from 1955 to 1957; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak began his career at the Chicago
16Hardware Foundry in North Chicago before working at Johnson
17Motors/Outboard Marine, where he retired after 25 years of
18service; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was affiliated with Holy Family
20Church and then with St. Patrick's in Wadsworth; he was also a

1volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and at soup kitchens in
2Waukegan for many years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was preceded in death by his
4brothers, Larry, Edward, and Charles, and his parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak is survived by his wife, Lillian;
6his sons, Michael (Anne), David (Janet), Martin (Mary), Gerry
7(Bernice), Steven (Dawn), and Tim (Maureen); his
8grandchildren, Jonathan (Maria), David (Karly), Cali (Josh),
9Charles, Laura, Frances, Donna, Peter, Alicia, Justine,
10Mathew, Nicole, Jeffrey, Adam, Caroline, Amy, and Ellen; his
11great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Rosemarie, Emily, Joshua,
12Adelina, Lillianna, Caleb, Davie Jane, and Chase; and his
13siblings, Jean Belski and George; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond "Ray" Joseph
17Szostak; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Raymond Szostak as an expression of
20our sympathy.
