| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Raymond "Ray" Joseph Szostak of Gurnee, |
| 4 | | who passed away on September 15, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was born on August 15, 1928 in |
| 6 | | North Chicago; his parents were Francis and Mary (nee Wrona) |
| 7 | | Szostak; he was a resident of North Chicago until he moved to |
| 8 | | Gurnee in 1985; he married Lillian (nee Dorband) on May 20, |
| 9 | | 1950 at the Holy Family Church in North Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak attended Holy Rosary School in |
| 11 | | North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1946; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak served in the United States Army |
| 14 | | from 1955 to 1957; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak began his career at the Chicago |
| 16 | | Hardware Foundry in North Chicago before working at Johnson |
| 17 | | Motors/Outboard Marine, where he retired after 25 years of |
| 18 | | service; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was affiliated with Holy Family |
| 20 | | Church and then with St. Patrick's in Wadsworth; he was also a |
|

| 1 | | volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and at soup kitchens in |
| 2 | | Waukegan for many years; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was preceded in death by his |
| 4 | | brothers, Larry, Edward, and Charles, and his parents; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak is survived by his wife, Lillian; |
| 6 | | his sons, Michael (Anne), David (Janet), Martin (Mary), Gerry |
| 7 | | (Bernice), Steven (Dawn), and Tim (Maureen); his |
| 8 | | grandchildren, Jonathan (Maria), David (Karly), Cali (Josh), |
| 9 | | Charles, Laura, Frances, Donna, Peter, Alicia, Justine, |
| 10 | | Mathew, Nicole, Jeffrey, Adam, Caroline, Amy, and Ellen; his |
| 11 | | great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Rosemarie, Emily, Joshua, |
| 12 | | Adelina, Lillianna, Caleb, Davie Jane, and Chase; and his |
| 13 | | siblings, Jean Belski and George; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 16 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond "Ray" Joseph |
| 17 | | Szostak; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of Raymond Szostak as an expression of |
| 20 | | our sympathy.
