SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Keith L. Cottingham of Jerseyville, who
4passed away on June 8, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Keith Cottingham was born on April 24, 1929 to
6Lloyd and Anna Hunter Cottingham; in 1943, his family moved to
7Chicago, where he graduated from Lane Technical High School; he
8attended Northwestern University and then served 4 years as a
9pilot in the United States Air Force, flying the Berlin
10Airlift; he loved his country and proudly flew the American
11flag and always wore an American flag pin; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Keith Cottingham was employed in the corrugated
13packaging industry, building and operating plants throughout
14the United States; he retired as Vice-President of
15manufacturing in 1998 from the Chesapeake Corporation in
16Binghamton, New York; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Keith Cottingham married Marguerite on August 11,
182001 at Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville and they
19enjoyed almost 14 years together, travelling throughout the
20United States and abroad and spending time with family and
21friends; they spent winters in Florida near family for the past
229 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Keith Cottingham was preceded in death by his
2first wife, of 37 years, Mary Ann Schuele; his parents; his
3siblings, Morris, Ralph, Carol, Dale, and Ivan; and his
4brother-in-law, Lee Gettings; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Keith Cottingham is survived by his wife,
6Marguerite; his son, H. Scott Cottingham; his daughter,
7Christine Cottingham, and grandson, Sergei Cottingham Lever;
8his 2 special nephews, Keith and Steve Cottingham; Marguerite's
9children, Russ (Jean), Brad (Aleta) Melbourne, and Jan (Rick)
10Rozenboom, and her grandchildren, Todd, Taylor, Avery, and
11Jillian Sinclair and Morgan and Drake Rozenboom; his
12brothers-in-law, Bill (Doris), Jake (Louise), and Dale (Nancy)
13Gettings; and his sisters-in-law, Grace Gettings and Libby
14Cottingham; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Keith L. Cottingham, and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Keith Cottingham as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
