SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Daniel Adair of Springfield, who
4passed away on September 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Adair was born in Decatur on November 4, 1953
6to Floyd "Bud" and Kathleen "Kay" Adair; he graduated from
7Belleville West High School in 1971 and from the University of
8Tennessee in Chattanooga in 1975, where he was an accomplished
9member of the men's tennis team; he then enrolled in the
10Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in
11Springfield; he married Nancy Dawson on June 17, 1978 in
12Springfield; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Adair and his family moved to Winston-Salem,
14North Carolina, where he began his professional career as an
15intern and resident at the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine at
16Wake Forest University; he was a member of the American Academy
17of Orthopedic Surgeons, serving on its national Health Care
18Systems Committee; he was also a member of the International
19Cartilage Repair Society and the American Orthopedic Society
20for Sports Medicine, as well as many other medical
21associations; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Dr. Adair was most recently serving as Medical

1Director of Orthopedic Services at Memorial Medical Center,
2Co-Director of the Orthopedic Group at Springfield Clinic, and
3Co-Medical Director at SportsCare of Illinois; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dr. Adair enjoyed spending time with his family
5and volunteered as a member of the Springfield Bicycle Advisory
6Committee, helping to improve bicycle paths around
7Springfield; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Adair is survived by his wife, Nancy; his 2
9children Zach (Tacy) and Courtney (Nathan Karlsgodt); his 2
10grandchildren, Piper and Beckett; his mother, Kay; his sister,
11Lorrie (Erik Moorhead); and numerous other nephews, nieces,
12relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Dr. Daniel Adair, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dr. Adair as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
