SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marjorie J. Deakin of Cuba, who passed
4away on October 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was born in Bernadotte Township on
6June 26, 1922 to William and Loreine (nee McCaughey) Hamm; she
7married Alan L. Deakin on August 14, 1941 in Bowling Green,
8Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was a homemaker; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was a 60-year member of the Cuba
11United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 50
12years; her other memberships included the Order of Eastern
13Star, Jobs Daughters, the Cuba Senior Women's Club, Royal
14Neighbors, and the Friendly Neighbors Club; she was also a
15former 4-H Leader and served on the board of directors for the
16Community Concert Association; she enjoyed playing cards and
17playing the piano by ear; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was preceded in death by her
19husband, Alan; her parents; her 4 brothers; her 3 sisters; and
20her step-grandson; and

1    WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin is survived by her 3 children,
2Reita (David) Harn, Garrett (Kathy) Deakin, and Greg (Debora)
3Deakin; her 6 grandchildren, Amy Deakin, Emily Harmony,
4Kristina Hurley, Rachel Lyons, Tiffany Deakin, and Colin
5Deakin; her 7 step-grandchildren; and her 6
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Marjorie J. Deakin, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Marjorie Deakin as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
