SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary Lee Ludwig, who passed away on
4September 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was born in Danville on March 15, 1944
6to Holly and Cecille Ludwig; he graduated from Armstrong High
7School and received 2 degrees from the University of Illinois;
8he served as a 1st lieutenant in the United States Army in
9Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In 1971, Gary Ludwig began an insurance career in
11Vermilion County that spanned over 40 years; he owned Heartland
12Insurance Agency in Danville and was frequently recognized
13among professional organizations for service to his customers;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was a member of the Danville Jaycees,
16Oakwood United Methodist Church, and the Oakwood High School
17Booster Club; he served on the board of many civic
18organizations, including the Farmhouse International
19Foundation, Downtown Danville Inc., Vermilion Advantage, the
20Danville Library Foundation, the Danville YMCA, and the
21Independent Insurance Agents of Vermilion County; he was a
22charter member of the Oakwood Men's Club and served on the

1board of the United Community Bank in Oakwood; he was the
2adviser to the Illinois Chapter of Farmhouse Fraternity and was
3a member of the Vermilion County Board; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig passions were his family and all
5things Illini; he attended nearly all of his 4 grandsons'
6sporting and school events and had not missed an Illinois home
7football game since 1971; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig was preceded in death by his daughter,
9Lee Ann Sprague, and his 2 brothers, Jack and Jake Ludwig; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gary Ludwig is survived by his wife of 49 years,
11Brenda; his daughter, Amy (Patrick) Rouse; his 4 grandsons,
12Bennett and Jameson Sprague and George and Tommy Rouse; his
13sister, Anne Luedke; his brother, Gene Ludwig; and his
14son-in-law, Chad Sprague; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Gary Lee Ludwig, and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Gary Ludwig as an expression of our
