SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bertha Irene "Birdie" Byron of Wood
4River, who passed away on October 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Birdie Byron was born in Alton on August 31, 1914
6to August Peter and Emma Theresa (nee Nolan) Eckhard; she
7married Ralph Christoe Byron in Collinsville on October 16,
81936; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Birdie Byron had been employed as an admitting
10clerk at Wood River Township Hospital; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Birdie Byron served as a volunteer for Wood River
12Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital for over 40 years, and Ursuline
13Convent auxiliaries; she was a member of the Daughters of
14Isabella, the Wood River Heritage Council, and the Wood River
15Women's Club; she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, singing, and
16dancing; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Birdie Byron was preceded in death by her husband,
18Ralph; her parents; her 3 brothers, Nolan, August, and Michael
19Eckhard; her 5 sisters, Agnes Calvin, Florence Hartman, Augusta
20Miller, Virginia Tonsor, and Josephine Eckhard; her
21son-in-law, Charles Yarnell; and her grandson, Brock Yarnell;

2    WHEREAS, Birdie Byron is survived by her son, John
3(Sherrie) Byron; her daughters, Marsha Yarnell, Jean (Ralph)
4Bruce, and Mary Jo (Ron) Schmidt; her 14 grandchildren; her 22
5great-grandchildren; and her 6 great-great-grandchildren;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Bertha Irene "Birdie" Byron, and extend our sincere condolences
10to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Birdie Byron as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
