SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard L. Ehlers of Fox Lake, who passed
4away on October 3, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Ehlers was born in Chicago on September 4,
61927 to Lorenzo and Anna (nee Scaperdine) Ehlers; he graduated
7from Parker High School in Chicago and served in the United
8States Navy as an apprentice seaman until 1946; he married
9Phyllis Crudele on May 14, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Ehlers worked at the Rock Island Railroad,
11where he worked his way up to car server agent for the
12Association of American Railroads; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Ehlers sang and performed in various
14church performances at St. Cyprian and St. Celestine Churches;
15in the 70s, he also worked for several years at an animal
16hospital, where he and Phyllis acquired their first dog; in his
17free time, he enjoyed bowling with his Leisure Village friends
18and playing the slot machines at various casinos; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Ehlers was preceded in death by his
20parents; his brother, Donald (the late Lillian Marie) Ehlers;
21and his niece, Karen Ehlers; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Ehlers is survived by his wife of 60
2years, Phyllis; his 5 children, Lori (Pat) Walsh, John (Julie)
3Ehlers, Mark (Rosemary) Ehlers, Michael Ehlers, and Susan
4Scalise; his son-in-law, Lawrence Scalise; his grandchildren,
5Geja (Daniel Ramos) Ehlers, Stephanie Ehlers, Samantha
6(Michael Pelligrino) Ehlers, Nick Walsh, Sarah Ehlers, Vince
7Scalise, Shari Ehlers, and Lauren Scalise; and his 2
8great-grandsons, Jimmy and Julian; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Richard L. Ehlers, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Richard Ehlers as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
