| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Richard Carl "Dick" Schwarz of Peoria, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on October 15, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on | ||||||
| 6 | September 4, 1937 to Harold and Laura (nee Bratton) Schwarz; he | ||||||
| 7 | was valedictorian of his class in Edgewood High School, where | ||||||
| 8 | he excelled in high school sports and held the county records | ||||||
| 9 | in high jump and high hurdles for many years; he graduated from | ||||||
| 10 | Kent State University, majoring in geology and was a member of | ||||||
| 11 | Sigma Nu Fraternity; he married Myrna Wilson on November 14, | ||||||
| 12 | 1964 at Highland Presbyterian Church in Street, Maryland; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was employed by American Water Works | ||||||
| 14 | Company, Inc., where he worked for 7 subsidiary companies in 4 | ||||||
| 15 | states over his 38-year career, ending in Peoria, where he | ||||||
| 16 | retired as manager of the Northern Division of Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | American Water Company in 1999; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was a Rotarian for 38 years, 10 years | ||||||
| 19 | in Belleville, where he served as President, and 28 years with | ||||||
| 20 | the Peoria Downtown Rotary; he was Chairman of the Board for | ||||||
| 21 | the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the | ||||||
| 22 | Board for Belleville-Fairview Heights Junior Achievement; he | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and received the Louis B. | ||||||
| 2 | Neumiller Founders Award for Junior Achievement of Central | ||||||
| 3 | Illinois in Peoria; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz loved the outdoors and enjoyed | ||||||
| 5 | hunting, fishing, boating, walking in the woods, picking morel | ||||||
| 6 | mushrooms, and practicing amateur taxidermy; he was a member of | ||||||
| 7 | United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where he served as a | ||||||
| 8 | deacon; he is a member of his high school Hall of Fame; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz is survived by his wife of 50 years, | ||||||
| 12 | Myrna; his 2 sons, Richard "Rick", Jr. (Jody) and Cyril "Cy" | ||||||
| 13 | (Karolee); his 3 grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn, and Matthew | ||||||
| 14 | Schwarz; his brother, Robert (Mary); his 7 nephews; and his | ||||||
| 15 | niece; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Richard Carl "Dick" Schwarz, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 19 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 20 | it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

| 1 | presented to the family of Dick Schwarz as an expression of our | ||||||
| 2 | deepest sympathy.
