SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Apostle Richard D. Henton of Chicago, who
4passed away on October 22, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Apostle Henton was born on August 23, 1939; he was
6called to preach at the age of 14 and ordained at the age of 16;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Apostle Henton founded Monument of Faith Church on
9South Racine in 1964; in 1971, the location on South Chappel
10was purchased; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1977, 250 members of the Voice Choir ministered
12at the inaugural ceremony in Washington, D.C.; as of 1993, the
13television ministry had expanded to over 633 TV stations; in
141994, a city-wide breakthrough crusade was held at the
15University of Illinois - Chicago Pavilion, with over 10,000 in
16attendance; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Apostle Henton's church moved into its present
18location on South Columbus in 1998; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Apostle Henton has 3 Doctorate of Divinity
20Degrees; he has been the recipient of numerous certificates of

1merit, recipient of the N'DIGO Foundation Recipient of N'Faith
2Award, and recipient of the Luminary Senior Citizen Hall of
3Faith Award, presented by former Mayor Richard M. Daley; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Apostle Henton and his wife, Helen, had 6
5children, the late Timothy, the late Phillip, Mark, John,
6Amelia, and Melody; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Apostle Richard D. Henton, and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Apostle Henton as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
