| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Apostle Richard D. Henton of Chicago, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 22, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Apostle Henton was born on August 23, 1939; he was |
| 6 | | called to preach at the age of 14 and ordained at the age of 16; |
| 7 | | and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Apostle Henton founded Monument of Faith Church on |
| 9 | | South Racine in 1964; in 1971, the location on South Chappel |
| 10 | | was purchased; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, In 1977, 250 members of the Voice Choir ministered |
| 12 | | at the inaugural ceremony in Washington, D.C.; as of 1993, the |
| 13 | | television ministry had expanded to over 633 TV stations; in |
| 14 | | 1994, a city-wide breakthrough crusade was held at the |
| 15 | | University of Illinois - Chicago Pavilion, with over 10,000 in |
| 16 | | attendance; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Apostle Henton's church moved into its present |
| 18 | | location on South Columbus in 1998; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Apostle Henton has 3 Doctorate of Divinity |
| 20 | | Degrees; he has been the recipient of numerous certificates of |
