AMENDMENT TO SENATE RESOLUTION 1152 


2    AMENDMENT NO. ___.  Amend Senate Resolution 1152 by 
3replacing everything after the heading with the following:

 
4    "WHEREAS, The pet industry and animal advocates oppose the 
5illegal breeding of dogs; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Every year, dogs are euthanized due to a range of 
7factors, including behavioral issues that
make them 
8unadoptable, geographic concentration, and public demand for 
9certain breeds over others; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Responsible pet ownership begins with research 
11and communication to find the ideal pet for
each individual 
12circumstance and pet owners need to be diligent in researching 
13the background and
breed requirements of any puppy they are 
14purchasing or adopting to minimize the likelihood of

15relinquishment; and

1    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois should continue to ensure 
2that dogs are bred in a safe and secure
environment; therefore, 
3be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate June 1, 
62016 as "Healthy Puppy Day" in the State of Illinois in order 
7to raise awareness of
illegal breeding of dogs and its impact 
8on the animals and people of this State.".
