SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Urban D. "Mouse" DePorter of East Moline,
4who passed away on October 28, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Urban DePorter was born in Moline on August 11,
61928 to Urban and Alice (nee Barbier) DePorter; he served in
7the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and married
8Jacqueline L. Blunke on August 8, 1953 at St. Anne's Church;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Urban DePorter retired as a Captain with the East
11Moline Fire Department in 1982 after 24 years; he also worked
12in maintenance for Homewood Manor Apartments in Moline for 20
13years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Urban DePorter was a member of East Moline
15American Legion Post 227 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 2056; he
16served on the City of East Moline's Pension Board for 40 years
17and was an active member of St. Anne's Parish, serving on the
18Parish Council and as Chairman of Building and Grounds; he had
19been a member of the East End Boulders Club and the Friends
20Circle; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Urban DePorter enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping,

1and finding a good bargain at yard sales; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Urban DePorter is survived by his wife of 62
3years, Jackie; his children, MaryEllen (Wayne) Blette, Peggy
4Roffman, Connie (Craig) Vervaecke, John DePorter (Stefanie),
5and James DePorter (Brenda); his grandchildren, Jessie (David)
6Dies, Daniel Vervaecke, Laura Vervaecke, Jenna (Nichole)
7Kaltenbach, Jaclynn DePorter, Tyler Freese (Mandy), and Devon
8Gamboe; his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Urban,
9Annelise, Mason, Eli, Gavin, Mya, and Quintin; his sisters,
10Karol Fridley and Barb Davies; his brother, Tony DePorter; and
11many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Urban D. "Mouse" DePorter, and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Urban DePorter as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
