SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Clifford R. "Cliff" Montgomery of Coal 
4Valley, who passed away on November 1, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was born in Rock Island on June 
64, 1942 to Clifford R. and Bethel Rose (nee Adam) Montgomery; 
7he served in the United States Navy; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was a well-known insurance agent 
9for State Farm for over 25 years; he retired from State Farm 
10and went on to do remarkable things with the Milan Lanes 
11bowling center; he branched off the center to establish his 
12lifelong dream of owning a restaurant, Skinny Legs BBQ; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery contributed 11 years of his time 
14toward the PGA Tour events in the Quad Cities and was a member 
15and board member of the Moline Jaycees and Co-Chairman for the 
16first 2 years of the Jaycee Q-C Open; he also contributed 
17toward many charities, such as St. Jude Children's Research 
18Hospital and the Special Olympics; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery enjoyed his family, friends, 
20golf, reading, sports, fishing, and traveling; and

1    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was preceded in death by his 
2parents and his brother, Gary Montgomery; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery is survived by his daughters and 
4sons-in-law, Tracy (Michael) Gray, Sara (Todd) Harris, and 
5Julie Montgomery; his 13 grandchildren; and his niece, Tyrina 
6Montgomery; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9Clifford R. "Cliff" Montgomery, and extend our sincere 
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
11him; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to  the family of  Cliff Montgomery as an expression of 
14our deepest sympathy.
