SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Laurence E. "Larry" Kirby of Urbana, who
4passed away on September 14, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was born in Mahomet on October 3, 1926
6to Cecil Owen and Audie Mabel Jacobs Kirby; he grew up in the
7Paxton area and served in the United States Navy during World
8War II; he attended the Illinois Technical Institute of Chicago
9and married Eva Lois Brown on April 4, 1947 in the Methodist
10Church parsonage in Paxton; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby and his wife moved from Paxton to the
12Champaign-Urbana area in 1958; he retired as an International
13Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 601 electrician (IBEW); he
14was a former instructor for the IBEW 601 apprenticeship
15program, superintendent of building inspection in Champaign,
16director of Champaign County Civil Defense, and a Champaign
17County zoning administrator; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was a former member of Paxton United
19Methodist Church and a member of the Paxton American Legion
20Prairie Post 150, the Paxton Masonic Lodge No. 416 A.F. & A.M.,
21IBEW 601, and the Twin City Amateur Radio Club; and

1    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique
2tractors, and gardening; he also had an interest in family
3history and Civil War history; he always had a love for dogs
4and family; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was preceded in death by his wife,
6Eva; his parents; his 2 sisters, Leone Kirby Fairley and Doris
7Kirby Frederickson; and his brother, David Kirby; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Larry Kirby is survived by his daughter, Connie
9(Gary) Jordan; his 2 sons, Eugene Kirby and Larry (Jennifer)
10Kirby; his 3 grandsons, Jacob, Joshua, and Matthew Jordan; his
11granddaughter, Fallon Kirby; his 2 great-grandsons, Nikolas
12and Lucas Jordan; his great-granddaughter, Lily Grace Jordan;
13his 3 brothers, Owen (Jean) Kirby, Dannie Kirby, and Everett
14(Faye) Kirby; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Kirby; therefore,
15be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Laurence E. "Larry" Kirby, and extend our sincere condolences
19to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
20it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Larry Kirby as an expression of our
