| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Laurence E. "Larry" Kirby of Urbana, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 14, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was born in Mahomet on October 3, 1926 |
| 6 | | to Cecil Owen and Audie Mabel Jacobs Kirby; he grew up in the |
| 7 | | Paxton area and served in the United States Navy during World |
| 8 | | War II; he attended the Illinois Technical Institute of Chicago |
| 9 | | and married Eva Lois Brown on April 4, 1947 in the Methodist |
| 10 | | Church parsonage in Paxton; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby and his wife moved from Paxton to the |
| 12 | | Champaign-Urbana area in 1958; he retired as an International |
| 13 | | Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 601 electrician (IBEW); he |
| 14 | | was a former instructor for the IBEW 601 apprenticeship |
| 15 | | program, superintendent of building inspection in Champaign, |
| 16 | | director of Champaign County Civil Defense, and a Champaign |
| 17 | | County zoning administrator; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was a former member of Paxton United |
| 19 | | Methodist Church and a member of the Paxton American Legion |
| 20 | | Prairie Post 150, the Paxton Masonic Lodge No. 416 A.F. & A.M., |
| 21 | | IBEW 601, and the Twin City Amateur Radio Club; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique |
| 2 | | tractors, and gardening; he also had an interest in family |
| 3 | | history and Civil War history; he always had a love for dogs |
| 4 | | and family; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 6 | | Eva; his parents; his 2 sisters, Leone Kirby Fairley and Doris |
| 7 | | Kirby Frederickson; and his brother, David Kirby; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Larry Kirby is survived by his daughter, Connie |
| 9 | | (Gary) Jordan; his 2 sons, Eugene Kirby and Larry (Jennifer) |
| 10 | | Kirby; his 3 grandsons, Jacob, Joshua, and Matthew Jordan; his |
| 11 | | granddaughter, Fallon Kirby; his 2 great-grandsons, Nikolas |
| 12 | | and Lucas Jordan; his great-granddaughter, Lily Grace Jordan; |
| 13 | | his 3 brothers, Owen (Jean) Kirby, Dannie Kirby, and Everett |
| 14 | | (Faye) Kirby; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Kirby; therefore, |
| 15 | | be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Laurence E. "Larry" Kirby, and extend our sincere condolences |
| 19 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 20 | | it further

| 21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
