SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vernon Thomas Kopsell of Woodstock, who
4passed away on October 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was born in Woodstock on September
625, 1925 to George and Lillian (nee Wilson) Kopsell; he
7finished 8th grade and went on to the Washburne Trade School in
8Chicago; he enlisted in the United States Army at 16 and was
9stationed in the Pacific during World War II with the 503rd
10Parachute RCT Association; he also served as a Liaison Pilot
11during this time; he returned home on December 25, 1945; he
12married Barbara Fuchs in Bakersfield, California on December
1316, 1947; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was a very skillful and creative
15plasteer and bricklayer; his handiwork can be found around
16McHenry County as well as the Chicagoland area; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was a founding member of the local
18Veterans of Foreign Wars; he did volunteer work at McHenry
19County Historical Society and loved to read biographies and
20watch westerns; he enjoyed feeding the birds, old cars,
21airplanes, and taking care of his garden; and

1    WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was preceded in death by his wife,
2"My Barbara"; his mother and father; his sisters, Florence and
3Lucille; and his brother, Kenneth; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell is survived by his daughters, Judy
5Kopsell and Janice (Danny) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Julie
6Morse, Andy (Ellen) Schroeder, and Jessica Schroeder; his
7great-grandchildren, AJ Schroeder, Ian Morse, James Morse,
8Gabbie Morse, and Alena Schroeder; and his siblings, Clarence
9Kopsell, George Kopsell, Jim Kopsell, Bill Kopsell, Don
10Kopsell, Dorothy Gibson, Darlene Gathman, Barb Murray, and
11Linda Levan; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Vernon Thomas Kopsell, and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Vernon Kopsell as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
