|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Vernon Thomas Kopsell of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 24, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was born in Woodstock on September |
| 6 | | 25, 1925 to George and Lillian (nee Wilson) Kopsell; he |
| 7 | | finished 8th grade and went on to the Washburne Trade School in |
| 8 | | Chicago; he enlisted in the United States Army at 16 and was |
| 9 | | stationed in the Pacific during World War II with the 503rd |
| 10 | | Parachute RCT Association; he also served as a Liaison Pilot |
| 11 | | during this time; he returned home on December 25, 1945; he |
| 12 | | married Barbara Fuchs in Bakersfield, California on December |
| 13 | | 16, 1947; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was a very skillful and creative |
| 15 | | plasteer and bricklayer; his handiwork can be found around |
| 16 | | McHenry County as well as the Chicagoland area; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was a founding member of the local |
| 18 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars; he did volunteer work at McHenry |
| 19 | | County Historical Society and loved to read biographies and |
| 20 | | watch westerns; he enjoyed feeding the birds, old cars, |
| 21 | | airplanes, and taking care of his garden; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 2 | | "My Barbara"; his mother and father; his sisters, Florence and |
| 3 | | Lucille; and his brother, Kenneth; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Vernon Kopsell is survived by his daughters, Judy |
| 5 | | Kopsell and Janice (Danny) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Julie |
| 6 | | Morse, Andy (Ellen) Schroeder, and Jessica Schroeder; his |
| 7 | | great-grandchildren, AJ Schroeder, Ian Morse, James Morse, |
| 8 | | Gabbie Morse, and Alena Schroeder; and his siblings, Clarence |
| 9 | | Kopsell, George Kopsell, Jim Kopsell, Bill Kopsell, Don |
| 10 | | Kopsell, Dorothy Gibson, Darlene Gathman, Barb Murray, and |
| 11 | | Linda Levan; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 14 | | Vernon Thomas Kopsell, and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 16 | | further
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to the family of Vernon Kopsell as an expression of |
| 19 | | our deepest sympathy.
