SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Robert McMahon of Woodstock, who
4passed away on October 26, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John McMahon was born in Chicago on September 14,
61937 to John and Esther (nee Johnson) McMahon; he graduated
7from DePaul Academy in 1956; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John McMahon was employed by Illinois Bell,
9"Mother Bell", for his entire professional career; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John McMahon's service in the United States Coast
11Guard for 8 years sparked a life-long love of the water, which
12he passed on to his children; they spent many weekends fishing
13and boating on the sandbar in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; he was a
14motorcycle enthusiast and owned and rode many motorcycles
15throughout his lifetime; the years he spent on his Honda
16Goldwing were his favorite, riding well into his seventies; he
17enjoyed many trips with his club, The Back Road Riders; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John McMahon coached soccer, took stats at
19volleyball games, and attended more than his fair share of
20musicals, concerts, horse races, and Boy Scout campouts - all
21to support his children; and

1    WHEREAS, John McMahon was preceded in death by his parents;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, John McMahon was the loving father of Kathleen
4(Terry) McCallister, John McMahon, Melissa (Don Thomas)
5McMahon, Thomas McMahon, and Meredith (Deryl) Sweeney; he was
6the grandfather or "papa" of Sean, Justin, Olivia, Charlotte,
7and Samuel; he is also survived by his sister, Ann (Stu)
8Alderson, and many loving nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11John Robert McMahon, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of John McMahon as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
