SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alan W. Johnson of East Moline, who passed away on November 14, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was born on January 12, 1924 in Moline; his parents were Albin W. and Laura E. Ohline Johnson; he married Natalie J. Welander on September 9, 1961 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson graduated from Moline High School in 1942; he served for 3 years in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, mostly in the Southwest Pacific theatre; after his discharge, he attended the former Moline Institute of Commerce and subsequently graduated from Walton School of Commerce in Chicago in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was employed by the United States Steel Supply Division in Moline and Chicago for 10 years; he later worked at the former Franks Foundry Corporation in Moline and Davenport in a variety of accounting and administrative positions until his retirement in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was a member of the Church Council and served as Church Treasurer for 18 years; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Natalie; and his sister, Betty L. (Forest) Johnson Reid; and

WHEREAS, Alan Johnson is survived by his brother-in-law, John L. (Joan) Welander; his niece, Jill (Robert) Welander-Mahlburg; his nephews, Mark (Budell) Welander and Thomas T. (Suzanne) Welander; and his many cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Alan W. Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alan Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
