SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Alfred "Dick" Andersen of Lake
4Forest, who passed away on November 11, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Andersen graduated from Lake Forest High
6School in 1946, where he was affectionately known as "Andy"; he
7served 2 years in the United States Marines before enrolling at
8the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Delta
9Kappa Epsilon fraternity; he graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor
10of Arts in Economics; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dick Andersen worked for the First National Bank
12of Chicago for 33 years, finally as a Vice-President in the
13Trust Department-Real Estate Division, where he travelled
14extensively to Europe and the Middle East; upon retirement, he
15took further interest in his building materials companies, G.L.
16Blanchard and Dealers Ready Mix; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dick Andersen was active in his community; he
18served as a Lake Bluff volunteer firefighter, a Little League
19coach, a girls' softball coach, and a Trustee of Union Church
20of Lake Bluff, and he created the Lake Bluff Police Pension
21Fund; he served for many years on the Board of Trustees of
22Northland College and was instrumental in establishing the

1Green Lake Conservancy in Wisconsin, where he and his wife
2spent much fun time with family and friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dick Andersen enjoyed golfing, hunting,
4trap-shooting, and boating, even once "shooting his age" of 79
5in golf; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dick Andersen is survived by his wife of 62 years,
7Anne (nee Lackie); he was the father of Linn (William) Carey,
8Brad (Nancy) Andersen, Sally (Robert) Bickel, and Jean
9(Jeffery) Ott; grandfather of William Carey, Ryan (Emily),
10Sean, and Brady Andersen, Katherine and Christopher Bickel, and
11Andrew and Thomas Ott; great-grandfather of Warren and Lila
12Andersen; and brother of John (Virginia) Andersen; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Richard Alfred "Dick" Andersen, and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dick Andersen as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
