SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jimmy D. "Snapper" Knapp of Metamora, who
4passed away on November 18, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on
6February 12, 1941 to YuVonne O. and Mescal A. (Huen) Knapp; he
7served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965; he married
8Janice F. Carrico in Paducah, Kentucky on November 26, 1966;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp worked as a structural ironworker and
11was an assistant business agent for 35 years with Local 112 in
12East Peoria before retiring in 2001; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp attended auctioneer school in Iowa; he
14donated his time to Ducks Unlimited and the Mennonite Relief
15Sale; he was also an announcer at various events over the
16years, including the Illinois State Fair, the Heart of Illinois
17Fair, horse shows, horse races, and truck and tractor pulls; he
18was a member of Hilton Masonic Lodge 1143 AF & AM, Scottish
19Rites Bodies, Valley of Peoria, and the Mohamed Shrine Temple;
20he earned his private pilot's license in the late 1960s; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp was preceded in death by his sister,

1Marilyn Prokop, and his half-brother, Don Lutz; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp is survived by his wife, Janice; his 2
3daughters, Kimberly (Thomas) Dempsey and Shawna (Kevin)
4Collins; his granddaughter, Cadence Dempsey; and his 2
5half-brothers, W.R. Lutz and Jake Lutz; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Jimmy D. "Snapper" Knapp, and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jimmy Knapp as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
