SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Quint L. Sherwood of Champaign, who
4passed away on November 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was born on November 22, 1928 in
6Canton; his parents were Clarence and Mary Smith Sherwood; he
7married Arlene Sherwood on June 29, 1986 in Champaign; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served in the United States Air
9Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict, with one year at
10Thule Air Force Base in Greenland above the Arctic Circle; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served as a journeyman electrician
12and an electronic technician for 50 years for many companies,
13including the Ohio barge lines' Illinois River division in the
14late 1940s; he was the owner and operator of Electrical
15Technician Service in Rantoul into the mid-1960s; he was an
16engineering technician for the C.S. Johnson Company in
17Champaign and traveled around the world during the 1970s
18installing mass-pour concrete plants for highway and dam
19projects; he also worked as a maintenance electrician for
20General Motors for many years until his retirement in 1986; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was a lifelong member of the First

1Baptist Church of Champaign in Savoy; he was also a member of
2the Champaign Radio Control Club, International Toastmasters,
3and the Boy Scouts of America's Northern District Arrow Head
4Council, where he served as district chairman in the early
51960s; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf,
7building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and spending
8time at Panera Bread with his friends; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was preceded in death by his wife,
10Arlene, and his half-brother, Harold Nibbling; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood is survived by his sons, Lou (Sue)
12Sherwood and Don Sherwood; his daughter, Donna (David)
13Sherwood-Jackson; his grandchildren, Lee (Ashley) Sherwood,
14Devin (Leann) Goldenstein, and Laurel (Anthonie)
15Hartman-Johnson; and his 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be
16it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of Quint L. Sherwood; and
20be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
