SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Joseph "Jay" Dowsett of Silvis, who 
4passed away on November 26, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett was born in Marshall, Missouri on 
6September 2, 1930 to William and Grace Meyer Dowsett; he served 
7in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he 
8married Diane Schmidt on December 26, 1953 in Moline; he later 
9married Velma Ford on November 27, 1976 in Davenport, Iowa; and
  
 
  
10    WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett enjoyed woodworking and was a lifetime 
11St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett was preceded in death by his parents; 
13his wife, Velma; his brother, Bill; his  sisters, Margaret and 
14Betty; and his son-in-law, James Merrill; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett is survived by his children, Julie 
16(Herb) Durnell, Gail Merrill, Cathy (Jim) Reynertson, and John 
17(Sally) Dowsett; his 9 grandchildren; his 15 
18great-grandchildren; and his stepdaughters, Barbara Ford and 
19Theresa (Marty) Hancock; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
2Joseph "Jay" Dowsett, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to  the family of  Jay Dowsett as an expression of our 
7deepest sympathy.
