SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Corean Miggins, who passed away on 
4December 24, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Corean Miggins was born on July 28, 1947 in 
6Sandhill, Mississippi; her parents were John and Thelma 
7Miggins; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Corean Miggins was preceded in death by her mother 
9and her sister, Diane; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Corean Miggins moved to Chicago with her family in 
111948; she was baptized at the age of 12 at Lilydale Baptist 
12Church under the leadership of Reverend Wyatt; she received her 
13early education at Gillespie Elementary School and went on to 
14graduate from John Marshall Harlan High School at the age of 
1516; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, After working at Spiegel, Corean Miggins went to 
17work at Michael Reese Hospital as an accounts payable clerk; 
18she later became a Certified Nurse's Aide and worked until 
192008; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Corean Miggins is survived by her daughter,

1Kamisha; her father, John Miggins; her sisters, Velma Ward and 
2Audrey Shaw; her brothers, Willie Miggins and Otis Miggins; the 
3special set of kids she helped raise, Keith, Lin, Nelson, Jr., 
4and Tony; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, 
5including her best friend of 25 years, Billie, and Pastor 
6Davis; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her 
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Corean Miggins; and be 
10it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Corean Miggins as an expression of 
13our sympathy.
