| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John Joseph "Nobby" Walsh, Sr. of Joliet, |
| 4 | | who passed away on December 23, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. was born in Chicago on February 5, |
| 6 | | 1930 to Patrick and Agnes Walsh; he grew up on the Southside of |
| 7 | | Chicago and graduated from Leo High School in Chicago; he |
| 8 | | served as a United States Marine during the Korean War and |
| 9 | | graduated from De Paul University; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr.'s love of golf started as a caddy |
| 11 | | in the 1940s at Beverly Country Club; he was a golf pro at |
| 12 | | Joliet Country Club for 40 years; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. and his wife were parishioners of |
| 14 | | St. Paul the Apostle for over 50 years; he enjoyed attending |
| 15 | | mass everyday there with his wife and the friendships he made |
| 16 | | at morning mass; in his retirement, he taught golf clinics and |
| 17 | | traveled with his wife; he loved his weekly golf games and |
| 18 | | lunches with his friends and being able to spend time with his |
| 19 | | family; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. was preceded in death by his |
| 21 | | parents; his daughter, Agnes Walsh; his siblings, Mary (late |
|

| 1 | | William) Cleary, James (late Shelia) Walsh, Richard (Audrey) |

| 4 | | nephews, Michael Richards and Thomas Cleary; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. is survived by his wife of 54 |
| 6 | | years, Mary Elizabeth (nee Naughton); his children, John, |
| 7 | | Stephen (Amy), and Elizabeth; his grandsons, John, Vance, |
| 8 | | Stephen, and Frank; his siblings, Roseanne, Kevin (late Mabel |
| 9 | | Ann), and Cecilia (late Donald) Kimball; his sister-in-law, |
| 10 | | Audrey Walsh; his brothers-in-law, Thomas (Jayne) Naughton and |
| 11 | | Stephen Naughton; his sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Lawrence) |
| 12 | | Richards and Patricia (late Gilbert) Barthe; and over 40 nieces |
| 13 | | and nephews; therefore, be it

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | John Joseph "Nobby" Walsh, Sr., and extend our sincere |
| 17 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 18 | | him; and be it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of John Walsh, Sr. as an expression of |
| 21 | | our deepest sympathy.
