SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Joseph "Nobby" Walsh, Sr. of Joliet,
4who passed away on December 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. was born in Chicago on February 5,
61930 to Patrick and Agnes Walsh; he grew up on the Southside of
7Chicago and graduated from Leo High School in Chicago; he
8served as a United States Marine during the Korean War and
9graduated from De Paul University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr.'s love of golf started as a caddy
11in the 1940s at Beverly Country Club; he was a golf pro at
12Joliet Country Club for 40 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. and his wife were parishioners of
14St. Paul the Apostle for over 50 years; he enjoyed attending
15mass everyday there with his wife and the friendships he made
16at morning mass; in his retirement, he taught golf clinics and
17traveled with his wife; he loved his weekly golf games and
18lunches with his friends and being able to spend time with his
19family; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. was preceded in death by his
21parents; his daughter, Agnes Walsh; his siblings, Mary (late

1William) Cleary, James (late Shelia) Walsh, Richard (Audrey)
2Walsh, Dorothy Walsh, Patricia Walsh, and Patrick (late Judy)
3Walsh; his brother-in-law, James (Teri Pung) Naughton; and his
4nephews, Michael Richards and Thomas Cleary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Walsh, Sr. is survived by his wife of 54
6years, Mary Elizabeth (nee Naughton); his children, John,
7Stephen (Amy), and Elizabeth; his grandsons, John, Vance,
8Stephen, and Frank; his siblings, Roseanne, Kevin (late Mabel
9Ann), and Cecilia (late Donald) Kimball; his sister-in-law,
10Audrey Walsh; his brothers-in-law, Thomas (Jayne) Naughton and
11Stephen Naughton; his sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Lawrence)
12Richards and Patricia (late Gilbert) Barthe; and over 40 nieces
13and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John Joseph "Nobby" Walsh, Sr., and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Walsh, Sr. as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
