SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of former Illinois State Representative 
4Gerald W. "Jerry" Shea of Burr Ridge, who passed away on 
5December 11, 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Shea graduated from the University of 
7Illinois and DePaul University College of Law; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Rep. Shea served 5 terms in the Illinois House of 
9Representatives from 1967 to 1977, including 2 terms in 
10leadership and one as Majority Leader; following the close of 
11his legislative career, he remained active in public service as 
12a member  from 1999 to 2002 and as Chairman from 2001 to 2002 of 
13the University of Illinois Board of Trustees; he was also a 
14member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Transportation 
15Authority and a member of several other government commissions; 
16and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Rep. Shea most recently served as senior principal 
18at  the lobbying firm of Shea, Paige & Rogal, Inc; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Rep. Shea was preceded in death by his wife, 
20Joanne S. Shea; and

1    WHEREAS, Rep. Shea is survived by his daughter, Courtney C. 
2Shea; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5former Illinois State Representative Gerald W. "Jerry" Shea, 
6and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and 
7all who knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to  the family of  Rep. Shea as an expression of our 
10deepest sympathy.
