SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Gilbert J. "Barney" Barrett of Moline, 
4who passed away on December 18, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett was born on December 6, 1923 in 
6St. Louis, Missouri; his parents were Nathan and Dorothy (nee 
7Morey) Barrett; he married Sandra Shallberg on May 9, 1970 in 
8Galesburg; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett served in the United States Army 
10during World War II; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett will be most remembered for his 
12service to the Erie Police Department; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett enjoyed bowling and was a St. 
14Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett was preceded in death by his 
16parents; his sister, "Micki" Sateia; and a twin sibling; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Gilbert Barrett is survived by his wife, Sandra; 
18his children, Renee (Pat) Ewen, Bryan Barrett, and Joyelle 
19Barrett; his 7 grandchildren; and his 9 great-grandchildren;

1therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
4family and friends, mourn the passing of Gilbert J. "Barney" 
5Barrett; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Gilbert Barrett as an expression of 
8our sympathy.
