SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Philip J. Carman of Milan, who passed
4away on December 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Philip Carman was born on March 2, 1929 in
6Petersburg; his parents were James and Kathryn Carman; he
7married Helen Holtan in November of 1951; he later married
8Darlene Wicht on February 26, 1954, and she preceded him in
9death; he married Joan VanBrocklin on January 24, 1964, and she
10preceded him in death; he later married Doris Jean Pullin on
11May 29, 1976; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Philip Carman graduated from Rock Island High
13School in 1947; he was employed at the former Farmall Works in
14Rock Island for 27 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Philip Carman served his country as a member of
16the United States Army; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Philip Carman was a member of Milan American
18Legion Post 569, the Rock Island Fraternal Order of Eagles, and
19Rock Island County 40 & 8; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Philip Carman was preceded in death by his

1parents; his son, Norman VanBrocklin; his sisters, Bernice
2Williamson, Irene Ortman, and Helen Owens; and his brother,
3Harris Carman; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Philip Carman is survived by his children, Randy
5Carman, Teri (Kenny) Sutherland, Bob (Karen) VanBrocklin, and
6Norva (Kenny) DeWeise; his best friend, Julie Mears; his
7grandchildren, Madell, John, Eleina, Jason, Heather, Toni,
8Molly, Samantha, Francis, Ching, and Jayar; his
9great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter, Eli, Haylie, Violet,
10John, Jr., Francine, Zian, Ziv, Zyjan, and Zhamea; his niece,
11Lori (Montey) Brown; his nephew, Steve Carman; and his
12great-nephew, Nick Vanhoorebeck; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Philip J. Carman; and
16be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Philip Carman as an expression of
19our sympathy.
