SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Edwin Holt of Colona, who passed away on 
4December 14, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt was born on May 15, 1926 in Mountain 
6View, Arkansas; his parents were William and Lena Jefferies 
7Holt; he married Lena E. Baxter on May 4, 1948 in Mountain 
8View; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt served as a gunner with the United 
10States Army in the European Theatre during World War II; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt retired from Alcoa in 1988 after many 
12years of service; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt was a self-taught musician and could 
14play anything with strings; he also enjoyed woodworking and 
15making airplanes out of pop cans; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt was preceded in death by his daughter, 
17Sharon; his brothers, Jack, Jake, Jesse, and JC; and his 
18sisters, Isabelle and Flossie; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Edwin Holt is survived by his wife, Lena; his

1daughters, Debra (Kenny) Collis and Pam Gooch; his son-in-law, 
2Melvin (Edel) Miller; his grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, 
3Justin, Stacy, Shawna, Amber, Sarah, and Rachel; his 21 
4great-grandchildren; his 3 great-great-grandchildren; his 
5brother, Jap Holt; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, 
6be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Edwin Holt; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Edwin Holt as an expression of our 
13sympathy.
