SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harry Turner of Geneva, who passed away
4on November 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harry Turner was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on
6April 18, 1934 to Harry and Eleanor; at the age of 2, due to his
7mother's illness, he began living in St. Charles with his aunt
8and uncle, Dorothy and Dale Buckingham; he graduated from St.
9Charles High School in 1952 and joined the United States Air
10Force in 1953, serving for 12 years; he graduated from Northern
11Illinois University in 1971; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harry Turner was employed at various newspapers
13and taught electronics at Waubonsee Community College; at the
14time of his retirement, he operated his own typesetting
15business; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Harry Turner was a member and past Commander of
17the American Legion Post 75 in Geneva; he sang bass for many
18years with the Fox Valley Barbershop Chorus; he enjoyed
19listening to Jazz and Big Band music, collecting, gardening,
20woodworking, and cheering for his Green Bay Packers, always in
21the company of his German Shepherd; and

1    WHEREAS, Harry Turner was preceded in death by his parents;
2his aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Dale Buckingham; his
3brother-in-law, Anthony Weber; and his nephew, Tony Weber; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Harry Turner is survived by his wife of 47 years,
5Joanne (Laverty); his son, Joel; his sister, Joyce Weber; his
6sisters and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Theresa Hodge, William
7and Marilyn Stewart, and Richard and Patricia Laverty; and many
8nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Harry Turner, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Harry Turner as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
