SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald Lore "Jerry" Devereaux, who passed
4away on December 4, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Devereaux was born in Wisconsin to Orton
6and Mary (nee Beebe) Devereaux in December of 1917; he moved to
7Mundelein in 1929 and lived there until 2014; he married Ethel
8Tonne on May 16, 1940; he served his country in the United
9States Navy as a Seabee during World War II, stationed in the
10Aleutian Islands; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gerald Devereaux was a carpenter and craftsman; he
12worked at Rieke and Pepper Construction during the course of
13his life and was a member of Carpenters Local #250 for over 60
14years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gerald Devereaux was an avid reader, fisherman,
16and gardener; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gerald Devereaux was preceded in death by his
18parents; his sisters, Donna Hanson, Ardyce Chandler, and
19Dorothy Sanders; his brother, Clifford Devereaux; and his
20daughter, Joan Ann Cross Meyer; and

1    WHEREAS, Gerald Devereaux is survived by his wife of 75
2years, Ethel; his children, Alan (Gale) Devereaux and Susan
3(Stanley) Kendzior; his 8 grandchildren, Ronald (Kathy) Cross,
4David (Cheryl) Cross, Gerald Cross, Erik (Veronica) Devereaux,
5Mark (Kristine) Devereaux, Rock (Michelle) Kendzior, Kirk
6Kendzior, and Brittany Kendzior-Spangler (Blaine); his 17
7great-grandchildren; and his great-great-granddaughter;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gerald Lore "Jerry" Devereaux, and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gerald Devereaux as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
