| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jack E. Miller of Antioch, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 25, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller was born in Altamont to Theodore and |
| 6 | | Gertrude Miller on June 16, 1925; he grew up in Decatur and |
| 7 | | attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received a |
| 8 | | bachelor and master's degree; he married Doris J. Hill in |
| 9 | | Mattoon on August 14, 1949; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller dedicated 40 years of his life to |
| 11 | | education in Pontiac, and later, in Waukegan; he taught |
| 12 | | business and driver's education; he coached football, |
| 13 | | basketball, baseball, and track; he retired as athletic |
| 14 | | director in 1989; as a basketball coach, he served on the |
| 15 | | Chicago Daily News All Chicago and All State selection |
| 16 | | committee for 11 years; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller was recognized by the Waukegan High |
| 18 | | School Wall of Honor, the Lake County Sports Hall of Fame, the |
| 19 | | Illinois High School, the College Basketball Hall of Fame, and |
| 20 | | the Eastern Illinois Sports Hall of Fame; he was guest speaker |
| 21 | | to numerous clubs, award dinners, coaching clinics, and |
| 22 | | graduations at the local, State and national level; he was a |
