SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack E. Miller of Antioch, who passed
4away on December 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Miller was born in Altamont to Theodore and
6Gertrude Miller on June 16, 1925; he grew up in Decatur and
7attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received a
8bachelor and master's degree; he married Doris J. Hill in
9Mattoon on August 14, 1949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Miller dedicated 40 years of his life to
11education in Pontiac, and later, in Waukegan; he taught
12business and driver's education; he coached football,
13basketball, baseball, and track; he retired as athletic
14director in 1989; as a basketball coach, he served on the
15Chicago Daily News All Chicago and All State selection
16committee for 11 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jack Miller was recognized by the Waukegan High
18School Wall of Honor, the Lake County Sports Hall of Fame, the
19Illinois High School, the College Basketball Hall of Fame, and
20the Eastern Illinois Sports Hall of Fame; he was guest speaker
21to numerous clubs, award dinners, coaching clinics, and
22graduations at the local, State and national level; he was a

1member and past President of the Antioch Lions Club and the
2Illinois Retired Teachers Association; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jack Miller was preceded in death by his wife of
465 years, Doris; his parents; his brother, William; and his
5sister, Wanda Anderson; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Miller is survived by his daughters, Karen
7(Michael) Dunlavey and Lynn (David) Jeskey; his son, Scott
8Miller; his 7 grandchildren; his 7 great-grandchildren; and his
9brother, Kenneth Miller; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Jack E. Miller, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jack Miller as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
