SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Virgil Max Bennett of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on January 6, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was born on November 1, 1927 in 
6Mechanicsville, Iowa to Carl T. and Winnifred H. Lenahan 
7Bennett; he married Patricia L. Moortel on January 31, 1953 in 
8Rock Island; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, After college, Virgil Bennett served in the United 
10States Army Air Corps; he was later employed at the Rock Island 
11Arsenal for 30 years; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was a member of the Black Hawk 
13Shrine Club, Hi-Twelve, the Moline Breakfast Optimist Club, the 
14Royal Order of Jesters, C.R.A.B.S., and a 60-year member of the 
15Lindsay Park Yacht Club; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett enjoyed boating with his family and 
17friends and spending many winters in Arizona; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett was preceded in death by his 
19parents and his brother, Robert Bennett; and

1    WHEREAS, Virgil Bennett is survived by his wife, Patricia; 
2his daughter, Mary Jane (Thomas) Newenham; and his 
3granddaughter, Alexandra Newenham; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Virgil Max Bennett; 
7and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Virgil Bennett as an expression of 
10our sympathy.
