| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Peter J. Manzo of East Moline, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 7, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo was born in New York City in 1921; he |
| 6 | | served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving |
| 7 | | numerous decorations, including, the World War II Victory |
| 8 | | Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific |
| 9 | | Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the |
| 10 | | European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze |
| 11 | | Star, and the Navy USCG Unit Commendation Ribbon; he married |
| 12 | | Doris in New York, and he benefitted from the GI Bill, |
| 13 | | receiving his bachelor's degree in business from Union College |
| 14 | | in Schenectady, New York; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo retired from the Army Weapons Command |
| 16 | | at Rock Island Arsenal as Comptroller and Director of Programs |
| 17 | | in 1979; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo loved the game of baseball, often |
| 19 | | reminiscing about Joe DiMaggio; he loved to work and was a |
| 20 | | devoted family man; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo is survived by his wife, Doris; his |
