SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter J. Manzo of East Moline, who passed
4away on December 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Manzo was born in New York City in 1921; he
6served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving
7numerous decorations, including, the World War II Victory
8Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific
9Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the
10European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze
11Star, and the Navy USCG Unit Commendation Ribbon; he married
12Doris in New York, and he benefitted from the GI Bill,
13receiving his bachelor's degree in business from Union College
14in Schenectady, New York; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Peter Manzo retired from the Army Weapons Command
16at Rock Island Arsenal as Comptroller and Director of Programs
17in 1979; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Peter Manzo loved the game of baseball, often
19reminiscing about Joe DiMaggio; he loved to work and was a
20devoted family man; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Peter Manzo is survived by his wife, Doris; his

1children, Philip Manzo, Leslie Conroy, Cheryl (John) Scipione,
2and Peter (Virginia) Manzo; his 10 grandchildren; his 13
3great-grandchildren; his great-great-granddaughter; and many
4nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Peter J. Manzo, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Peter Manzo as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
