SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rodney E. Bruner of East Moline, who
4passed away on January 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rodney Bruner was born in Moline to Richard and
6Lucille Strother Bruner on December 29, 1933; he graduated from
7Moline High School, where he played 3 sports, including
8quarterback for the football team, and was the class President;
9he served in the United States Army and was stationed in
10Orleans, France; he married Barbara Jean Lutz in Rock Island on
11January 24, 1959; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rodney Bruner worked in the Personnel Department
13at John Deere, retiring in 1987; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rodney Bruner was a member of Christ United
15Methodist Church in East Moline; he was an advisor for Junior
16Achievement, served as Membership Chairman for the Willow
17Springs Swim Club, coached baseball for the Babe Ruth League
18and the East Moline American Legion, and served on the Board of
19Directors for the East Moline Visiting Nurses; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rodney Bruner was preceded in death by his
21parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Rodney Bruner is survived by his wife, Barbara;
2his children, William and Roberta Bruner, Suzanne and Clifford
3Carlson, Scott and Jackie Bruner, and Jeffrey Bruner; his 5
4grandchildren; his 2 step-grandchildren; and his 2
5great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Rodney E. Bruner, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Rodney Bruner as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
