SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of William "Bill" "Sarge" Norris of 
4Brighton, who passed away on January 14, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, William Norris was born in Alton to William and 
6Bertha (nee Thomasson) Norris on January 2, 1943; he served in 
7the United States Air Force and married Rachel Nadeau at Lac 
8Baker, New Brunswick, Canada on March 9, 1963; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, William Norris worked as a fireman at McDonnell 
10Douglas for 16 years; he later became a policeman, retiring as 
11Chief from the Brighton Police Department after 31 years of 
12service in June of 2013; and
  
 
  
13    WHEREAS, William Norris was preceded in death by his 
14parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Bill Davis; 
15his niece, Carla Grammer; and his nephew, Brian Davis; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, William Norris is survived by his wife, Rachel; 
17his 4 children, Dr. William R. "Bob" (Julie) Norris, Pam (Mark) 
18Savoie, John (Rhonda) Norris, and Kathy (Matt) Gahr; his 5 
19grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Sean, Travis, and Madison; his 2 
20great-grandchildren, Mark and Kelsie; his  sister, Janet 
21(Steve) Sanders; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4William "Bill" "Sarge" Norris, and extend our sincere 
5condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
6him; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  William Norris as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
