| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Frei of Kirkwood, Missouri, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 20, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Frei was born on May 22, 1925; he was |
| 6 | | drafted into the United States Army and served in the art and |
| 7 | | medical departments; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Frei successfully led one of the nation's |
| 9 | | oldest and most prestigious stained glass firms, Emil Frei and |
| 10 | | Associates, for almost 30 years; his works have graced more |
| 11 | | than 300 churches and institutions across the nation and have |
| 12 | | been recognized by countless experts as a vital step forward in |
| 13 | | the craft; in the St. Louis region, his work can be seen at |
| 14 | | places such as the New Cathedral Basilica, Resurrection |
| 15 | | Catholic Church, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel, |
| 16 | | and the St. Louis Priory; his impact on the trade reverberated |
| 17 | | down the generations and he was instrumental in developing a |
| 18 | | method for faceted stained glass production that is still used |
| 19 | | industry-wide today; and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Frei enjoyed traveling the nation's parks |
| 21 | | in a camper with his wife and family; his many accomplishments |
| 22 | | included qualifying for the Olympics as a bicyclist; and
