| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | recognize the Illinois Farm Bureau
(IFB) for its commitment to |
| 4 | | proudly serving farmers in the State of Illinois for 100 years; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, In 1916, the Illinois Agricultural Association, |
| 7 | | commonly known as IFB, formed when
a group of farmers began |
| 8 | | meeting at the University of Illinois to discuss important |
| 9 | | issues facing
Illinois' farming communities and families; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, These initial meetings brought needed |
| 11 | | conversation on the importance of quality
education, |
| 12 | | resourceful avenues for information collecting and |
| 13 | | distribution, and more effective
and innovative farming |
| 14 | | practices for Illinois' fertile soils; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, IFB is a membership-driven, not-for-profit |
| 16 | | corporation that represents 2 out of
every 3 Illinois farmers, |
| 17 | | while providing excellent agricultural resources, education, |
| 18 | | and
information to all rural and urban Illinois residents; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its long history, IFB has developed and |
| 20 | | initiated many farm programs,
companies, and businesses in |
| 21 | | order to improve Illinois' business climate and to ensure
|
|

| 1 | | agriculture stays at the forefront as one of Illinois' most |
| 2 | | valuable economic engines; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, IFB continues to give back to the people and |
| 4 | | communities of Illinois by donating
more than $500,000, 10 |
| 5 | | million pounds of food, and 4,000 volunteer hours to local food
|
| 6 | | banks, while also awarding more than $80,000 in scholarships to |
| 7 | | college students; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Today, IFB is a leader for agricultural policy on |
| 9 | | the local, State,
and national level by focusing on its core |
| 10 | | mission: to improve the economic well-being of
agriculture and |
| 11 | | enrich the quality of farm family life; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, IFB achieves its mission by educating farmers, |
| 13 | | supporting common sense legislation,
and telling the farmer's |
| 14 | | story to the public; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the |
| 17 | | Illinois Farm Bureau, its members, and its staff during its |
| 18 | | 100th
anniversary celebration and we recognize IFB's |
| 19 | | leadership and guidance on matters
important to Illinois' |
| 20 | | agricultural community; and be it further

| 21 | | RESOLVED, We designate April 6, 2016 as Illinois Farm |
