SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lynn Foster, formerly of Danville, who
4passed away on January 2, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was born in 1949 on a United States
6Air Force base in Japan; she attended Purdue University and
7settled in Danville; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was the first woman elected as
9Vermilion County Clerk in 1990; she was reelected for 6
10consecutive terms, leaving office in 2014 after 24 years of
11service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was a staple of the Democratic Party
13in the area; she served as a central committee person for the
14State Democratic party and as a delegate to the Democratic
15National Convention; she was the first woman elected as a
16voting member of the Danville Township Trustees; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was an Executive Board Member and past
18President of the Breakfast Kiwanis, a volunteer at CRIS Senior
19Services and the Westville Senior Center, and a Board Member
20for the Danville Area Food Pantry and Catholic Charities; in
212012, she was one of 6 area women the Girl Scouts honored as a

1Central Illinois Woman of Distinction; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was preceded in death by her husband
3of 30 years, David; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Lynn Foster is survived by her daughter, Nicole;
5her grandson, David; and her stepson, Lee Gregg Foster;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lynn Foster, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lynn Foster as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
