SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Julia Koffend of McHenry, who passed away
4on January 6, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Julia Koffend was born in Barberton, Ohio to
6Andrew and Mary Bavetz on March 19, 1924; she worked at Western
7Electric in Chicago, where she met her husband, Jim Koffend;
8they were married on November 6, 1948; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Julia Koffend and her husband worked together in
10their business, Peko Tile and Carpet in Palatine, but her true
11dedication was to their 3 daughters and her brothers and
12sisters; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Julia Koffend loved her family, children,
14animals, playing cards with her sisters, and occasional trips
15to the casino; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Julia Koffend was preceded in death by her
17husband, Jim; her siblings, Andrew Bavetz, Mary Bavetz, Frank
18Bavetz, and Ed Bavetz; and her great-grandson, Henry Buchert;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Julia Koffend is survived by her 3 daughters,

1Margie (Steve) Bjorkman, Linda (Doug) Oeffling, and Carol
2(Jerry) McCoy; her grandchildren, Stacy Bjorkman, Bret
3Bjorkman, Alyssa and Jeremy Miller, Tim Oeffling, Juliette
4Oeffling, Jenna and Michael Dickson, Brian Letzter, Jason
5McCoy, and Jessica and Matt Howsam; her great-granddaughter,
6Maya Miller; her siblings, Tony Bavetz, Anne (the late Steve)
7Redensek, Fran (the late George) Flicek, John Bavetz, Margie
8(Don) Smith, and Dolores Wojtysiak; and many nieces and
9nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Julia Koffend, and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Julia Koffend as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
