SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John E. "Jack" Benson of Waukegan, who
4passed away on January 10, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Benson was born to Arnold and Eunice (nee
6Clapham) Benson on April 25, 1937; he graduated from North
7Elementary School, Waukegan Township High School in 1954, and
8the University of Denver with a degree in business
9administration; he served in the National Guard, earning the
10rank of Sergeant; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Benson became an electrician, working for his
12father at Benson Electric; when his father retired, he took
13over as President; he successfully ventured into traffic
14signals, street lighting, and other areas; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Benson was active with the National
16Electrical Contractors; he served as President of the Waukegan
17Jaycees and the Lake County Contractors Association; he was a
1850-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical
19Workers Local 150 and a 54-year member the Glen Flora C.C. City
20Club; he served on the Apprenticeship Board and the Waukegan
21Historical Committee; and

1    WHEREAS, John Benson enjoyed golf, traveling, sudoku,
2dancing, milkshakes, and the adventurous surprises his wife
3came up with such as heli-hiking, white water rafting, and
4kayaking; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Benson is survived by his loving wife of 55
6years, Anne; his sister, Jane; his sister-in-law, Diane; and
7his numerous nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10John E. "Jack" Benson, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of John Benson as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
