| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Burnita "Bernie" "Bub" Kathryn |
| 4 | | Williams-Schlicher of Gurnee, who passed away on January 14, |
| 5 | | 2016; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Burnita Williams-Schlicher was born on October 8, |
| 7 | | 1928 in Dedham, Iowa; her parents were Loretta "Laura" |
| 8 | | Golwitzer and Joseph "Joe" Golwitzer, Sr.; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Burnita Williams-Schlicher had been a nanny in |
| 10 | | Dedham, Iowa, a foreman for detasselling crews at the Garst and |
| 11 | | Thomas Hi-Bred Corn Company in Coon Rapids, Iowa, and a server |
| 12 | | at Pauline's Cafe in Carroll, Iowa; she also worked on the |
| 13 | | assembly line at General Binding Corporation in Skokie and as a |
| 14 | | cafeteria baker at Waukegan High School's West Campus; she had |
| 15 | | also worked as a sorter at the United States Postal Service in |
| 16 | | Waukegan, a metallurgist at Compacted Metals Corporation in |
| 17 | | Waukegan and Fansteel/VR Wesson in Waukegan, and a cafeteria |
| 18 | | cook at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Burnita Williams-Schlicher was a member of St. |
| 20 | | Patrick's Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society-Rebels, and |
| 21 | | Sassy Sisters; she was a volunteer and a member of the Gurnee |
| 22 | | Women's Club, and a volunteer for Elder Care, Time Out/Respite |

| 1 | | Care, the St. Patrick Catholic Church Shamrocks, and the Lake |
| 2 | | County Safe Haven; she was also a member of Warren Township |
| 3 | | Senior Services, the Vista Health Systems Senior Circle, the |
| 4 | | local chapter of AARP, and the Fansteel/VR Wesson Credit Union |
| 5 | | Board; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Burnita Williams-Schlicher was preceded in death |
| 7 | | by her husbands, Arthur "Glen" Williams and John Schlicher; her |
| 8 | | parents; her sisters, Betty (Louie) Stickrod, Luella |
| 9 | | (Clarence) Bedford, and Cyrilla (Merlin) Knobbe; and her |
| 10 | | brother, Joseph "Bud" Golwitzer, Jr.; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Burnita Williams-Schlicher is survived by her |
| 12 | | brother, Gerald "Butch" (Carol) Golwitzer; her sister-in-law, |
| 13 | | Pat Golwitzer; her sons, Larry (Bonnie) Williams, Dennis |
| 14 | | Williams, and Jay Schlicher; her daughter, Denise Williams (Ed |
| 15 | | Oilschlager); her granddaughter, Nicole (Rodney) Nicholson; |
| 16 | | her grandson, Douglas (Shannon) Williams; her |
| 17 | | great-grandchildren, Cam and Max Nicholson, and Graham |
| 18 | | Williams; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and |
| 19 | | great-nephews; therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
| 22 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Burnita "Bernie" "Bub" |
| 23 | | Kathryn Williams-Schlicher; and be it further
