| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of William Earl Head of Rantoul, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 29, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Head was born on April 19, 1921 in New |
| 6 | | Haven, Kentucky; his parents were Joseph Harry Head and Susan |
| 7 | | Mabel Bowling; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, William Head graduated from St. Catherine of |
| 9 | | Alexandria Academy in New Haven, Kentucky before signing up for |
| 10 | | active duty in the Army Air Corps in November of 1942; |
| 11 | | following the completion of B-24 aerial gunnery and mechanics |
| 12 | | schools, he was assigned to the 38th Bomber Squadron, 7th Air |
| 13 | | Force for service in the Central Pacific, the Eastern Mandates, |
| 14 | | the Western Pacific, and the Air Offensive of Japan; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, After the completion of his highly decorated |
| 16 | | military career, William Head was discharged and became a |
| 17 | | bomber hydraulics instructor at Chanute Air Force Base in |
| 18 | | Rantoul; in the late 1940s, he began working for Rogers |
| 19 | | Chevrolet and worked primarily in the parts and service |
| 20 | | departments; he subsequently ran the ENCO station, bulk plant, |
| 21 | | and body shop for Rogers Chevrolet, closing out his 38-year |
| 22 | | career with his retirement in 1984; and
