| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donald W. Harmening of East Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 17, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Harmening was born in East Moline to Henry |
| 6 | | "Red" and Dorothy L. Harsch Harmening on January 16, 1934; he |
| 7 | | attended United Township High School and proudly served in the |
| 8 | | United States Army from 1954 to 1957, where he was stationed in |
| 9 | | Japan and Korea; he married Dorothy J. Sullivan in Rock Island |
| 10 | | on January 18, 1958; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Donald Harmening and his family owned and operated |
| 12 | | Red's Garage in East Moline from 1937 until he retired in 2015; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Donald Harmening was a member of the former |
| 15 | | Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline; he then became a |
| 16 | | member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Moline; he was active in |
| 17 | | the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9-1; he enjoyed cars, scuba |
| 18 | | diving, traveling, camping, and especially boating; his taco |
| 19 | | parties were enjoyed by many; most of all, he enjoyed spending |
| 20 | | time with his family and friends; and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Donald Harmening was preceded in death by his |
