SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward L. "Doc" Van Hoozen of Hebron, who
4passed away on February 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was born on June 12, 1930 in
6Woodstock; his parents were Lee and Lucy (nee Harrison) Van
7Hoozen; he married Elaine J. Cates on September 17, 1955 in
8Alden; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen served in the United States Army
10during the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was a graduate of Alden High
12School in 1948; he then attended Northern Illinois University
13before receiving his dental degree from Northwestern Dental
14School in 1958; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen practiced in Hebron for many
16years until his retirement in 2000; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen enjoyed motorcycle riding,
18snowmobiles, golfing, and fishing; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was preceded in death by his

1wife, Elaine; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen is survived by his sons, Brian
3(Kathlene) Van Hoozen and Brent (Chi) Van Hoozen; his
4grandsons, Christopher, Calvin, and Brian Van Hoozen, Jr.; his
5sister, Helen Rhodes; and his brother, Dexter (Joan) Van
6Hoozen; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward L. "Doc" Van
10Hoozen; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Edward Van Hoozen as an expression
13of our sympathy.
