SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold "Hal" Baker of Woodstock, who passed away on November 28, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Harold Baker was born on October 2, 1941 in Woodstock; his parents were George and Alice Baker; he married Crystal Scott on February 23, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Harold Baker went to school in Woodstock and continued his education at Trinidad College in Colorado and at Northern Illinois University; after 4 years of service in the United States Air Force, he returned to Woodstock and worked in sales for many years, finally opening his own business on Main Street called Sound Advice and later America's Best Audio-Video; he then spent many years as the elected Assessor for Dorr Township until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Harold Baker had a lifelong interest in hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed spending summers in Wisconsin and winters in Texas; and

WHEREAS, Harold Baker was a member of the Woodstock Jaycees and coached their award winning shooting team; he volunteered as a Little League coach, a hunter safety instructor, and an information officer with the McHenry County Civil Defense; he was also a member of the Woodstock Moose, the American Legion, the Harvard Sportsmen's Club, and was a life member of the NRA; and

WHEREAS, Harold Baker is survived by his wife of 53 years, Crystal Baker; his children, James, Scott, and Melinda (Mark) McDonough; and his grandchildren, Jessica Baker, Shaun (Brigitte) Baker, Samantha Baker, and Renee and Ross Adams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Harold "Hal" Baker; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Baker as an expression of our sympathy.
