SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David Loren Bartholomew of Arthur, who
4passed away on December 4, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Bartholomew was born in Terre Haute, Indiana
6to Ernest and Patricia Beth (nee Ulrey) Bartholomew on July 2,
71955; he graduated from Arthur High School in 1973 and Eastern
8Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political
9Science in 1977; he graduated from Southern Illinois University
10School of Law in 1980; he married Gemma McKee at Lake Tahoe,
11California on August 26, 2005; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Bartholomew became the Assistant State's
13Attorney in Douglas County in 1980; he was later appointed
14Douglas County State's Attorney; after 1985, he went to
15Springfield, serving first in the Secretary of State's office,
16and then in the Illinois Department of Revenue, where he was
17Deputy Director in Law Enforcement until retiring in 2009; and
 
18    WHEREAS, David Bartholomew was a member of the Arthur
19United Methodist Church, Arthur Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted
20Masons Lodge No.825, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Danville
21Consistory, the Tri-County Ansar Shrine, the Illinois Police
22Association, where he was Vice-President, and Douglas County

2    WHEREAS, David Bartholomew is survived by his wife, Gemma;
3his mother, Patricia Beth Bartholomew; his stepdaughter,
4Eleanor McKee-Volkmer (Jeffrey); his brother, Mark Bartholomew
5and wife, Terrie Dupree; and his 2 nephews, Zachary Bartholomew
6and Colten Bartholomew; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David Loren Bartholomew, and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of David Bartholomew as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
