SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tsuyako Liebmann of Chicago, who passed
4away on February 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann was born in Tokyo, Japan on
6August 16, 1926; she emigrated to the United States in 1955
7with her husband, Paul; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann dedicated her life to spreading
9the philosophy of Soka Gakkai Nichiren Buddhism, which espouses
10the absolute dignity of every person and the realization of a
11peaceful society through individual happiness; she was a
12pioneer member of the Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI-USA)
13Buddhist community in Chicago; she and her husband were
14instrumental in helping build the foundation of SGI-USA in
15Chicago, from using their home for meetings, to travelling
16almost every weekend throughout Chicagoland and 17 Midwestern
17states to encourage countless people; she was the recipient of
18many awards from Soka Gakkai International; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann was preceded in death by her
20husband, Paul; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann is survived by her sister, Ayako

1Sugiyama; many nieces and nephews; and many close SGI friends
2who were like family to her; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Tsuyako Liebmann, and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Tsuyako Liebmann as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
