| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Tsuyako Liebmann of Chicago, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 18, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann was born in Tokyo, Japan on |
| 6 | | August 16, 1926; she emigrated to the United States in 1955 |
| 7 | | with her husband, Paul; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann dedicated her life to spreading |
| 9 | | the philosophy of Soka Gakkai Nichiren Buddhism, which espouses |
| 10 | | the absolute dignity of every person and the realization of a |
| 11 | | peaceful society through individual happiness; she was a |
| 12 | | pioneer member of the Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI-USA) |
| 13 | | Buddhist community in Chicago; she and her husband were |
| 14 | | instrumental in helping build the foundation of SGI-USA in |
| 15 | | Chicago, from using their home for meetings, to travelling |
| 16 | | almost every weekend throughout Chicagoland and 17 Midwestern |
| 17 | | states to encourage countless people; she was the recipient of |
| 18 | | many awards from Soka Gakkai International; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann was preceded in death by her |
| 20 | | husband, Paul; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Tsuyako Liebmann is survived by her sister, Ayako |
