SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald W. Sells of Fountain Hills,
4Arizona, who passed away on September 4, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Sells was born and raised in Chicago; he
6moved to Wonder Lake, eventually settling in Cary to raise his
7family; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ronald Sells worked at Swisher Craft Boats and
9then the Northern Illinois Gas Company (Nicor), where he worked
10for over 30 years, starting as a gas repairman reading meters;
11he worked his way up to Control Inspector and Union Steward,
12from which he retired; he volunteered for many years at the
13Cary Fire Department, where he earned the nickname "Gas Pipe";
14he also participated in the annual fire department water fight;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ronald Sells enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling,
17and snowmobiling; after retirement, his wish was to get away
18from the snow in Illinois and buy a home in Arizona, where he
19was proclaimed King of DJ's Bagel Cafe by his peers; he enjoyed
20fishing with his son, Scott; they went twice a year to
21Wisconsin, and the fish that got away got bigger and bigger
22every year; he and his daughter, Pam, were inseparable, and

1they always enjoyed their time together; on many occasions,
2laughable trouble would find them, between their annual
3vacations in Cancun or just relaxing on the patio; he also
4enjoyed his many friends, drinking a beer, smoking a cigar,
5watching his Chicago sport teams, going to hockey games,
6football games, and NASCAR races; he was always hoping for his
7Cubbies to win the World Series; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ronald Sells was preceded in death by his father,
9Harold Sells; his mother, Florence Anderson; his stepfather,
10Vernon Anderson; and his son, Larry Stratton; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ronald Sells is survived by his wife of 59 years,
12Violet; his son, Scott Sells (Kati); his daughter, Pam
13Pannarale (Jim); his 2 grandchildren, Alyssa and Kendall Sells;
14and his great-grandson, Jamieson Sells; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Ronald W. Sells, and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Ronald Sells as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
