| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Craig Madden Chambers of Danville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 8, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Craig Chambers was born in Monticello to Earl and |
| 6 | | Erma (nee Madden) Chambers on May 24, 1936; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Rantoul High School in 1954 and served in the United States |
| 8 | | Army; he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from |
| 9 | | Eastern Illinois University; he later did his post-graduate |
| 10 | | work at the University of Illinois, Illinois State University, |
| 11 | | and the University of Michigan, London; he married Mary Hedrick |
| 12 | | in Rantoul in 1963; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Craig Chambers worked as a professor at Danville |
| 14 | | Area Community College for over 30 years; prior to that, he |
| 15 | | taught in the Chicago area and in Georgetown, retiring in 1997; |
| 16 | | and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Craig Chambers enjoyed reading, was a world |
| 18 | | traveler, and could never spend enough time with his 2 |
| 19 | | granddaughters; he was a lifetime member of the Parent-Teachers |
| 20 | | Association, the Vermilion County Museum Society, and the |
| 21 | | Vermilion County War Museum; he proudly served 2 terms on the |
| 22 | | Vermilion County Board; he was also a member of Chi Gamma Iota, |
